Intra Campus E-Mobility
Project Summary
Problem Identified
2Pi-I is our first electric trike, specifically created for textile spinning mills to decrease downtime and increase production on campus. In textile and related mills, malfunctioning machinery is an issue that takes a very little time to fix. To avoid interfering with production, they need to be corrected more quickly. But it results in additional work and higher labor expenses. Henceforth, using an intra-campus mobility will be an ideal solution for the problem.
Design Innovation
Existing solutions are made of ICEs (Internal Combustion Engines) which pollutes the environment as well as not compact in size. Our design focuses mainly on size and its intra campus mobility specifications. The 36V 350-watt hub motor and 36V 30Ah Li-FePO4 battery on the e-trike enable 2Pi-I to reach a top speed of 30kmph and go 40km on a single charge. The mechanical layout of the e-trike allows for easy movement inside the mill, and it could be turned around in a 4ft narrow path. We chose to utilize a hub motor since the e-trike would be operated in an environment likely to contain dust particles. The battery capacity is based on the user’s usage, we have gone for the above-mentioned specification. We have chosen Lithium based battery since it provides efficiency above 90%. The trike's charging would not be a concern because it is utilized for intra-campus transportation. Our future plans call for more design optimization to increase functionality, usability, and affordability and setting up an internal adapter for charging of the e-trike. To design a customized console which gives information on Battery capacity, how much more distance would the trike cover etc. 2Pi-I facilitates quicker transmission and offers noise and pollution-free mobility.
