Project Summary
Problem Identified
Our problem statement was to facilitate trouble-free communication between the patient, family, and the health care workers. Instead of relying on the basic means such as phone calls, going to the hospitals, and repeatedly asking for updates related to health; our solutions simplify the procedure. We conducted secondary as well as primary research to establish a clear understanding of the problems that the patients, their family members, and the healthcare workers were facing during the Covid times. We talked to doctors and common citizens: people who were previously hospitalized after contracting Covid as well as their family members.
Design Innovation
After the research, we built a strong understanding of the hardships that they faced and identified the key problem areas: unable to visit the patient, unable to get updates regarding health, shortage of staff, family members repeatedly calling and trying to visit. After exploring all the problem areas we came to a conclusion that unclear and indirect lines of communication were an ignored but severe problem that was negatively affecting the mental well-being of all the 3 user groups. We decided to build upon this problem and decided on a solution that eliminates the need for repetitive calling and eases the workload of health care workers who have to deal with worried family members and patients.
Impact On The Society
Through our solution, the family is always updated about the health of their loved ones who are hospitalized and the patients can also easily communicate basic information with minimal effort.
